The shadow tells all the truth about the light

For me, photography is not just the result, but the process itself: prepare the camera, wander around the streets, observe with attentive eyes, wait for the right moment, the right scene. It is a constant process of framing fragmented pieces of reality, like transforming the chaos into order, or one possible order.

Besides a form of art, photography is also therapy, a magic tool capable of freezing moments in space-time. This book collects my best street photography works from São Paulo, Prague, and Berlin. I invite you to see what I had seen, walk where I walked, and see with my eyes, even just for a few minutes.

Testimonials

Max Tango Architect / Brazil

“This book is an incredible journey through Odair's eyes. The images are sensitive and poetic, especially the abandoned landscapes, which end up becoming the most orderly in the midst of urban chaos. It's a really beautiful record.”

Tereza Škoulová Publicist / Czech Republic

“In a single photograph, Odair can empathetically capture an intimate urban story, one can feel the atmosphere of the place and the individual loneliness facing existence. Playing with aesthetics is not a manner, but a solid framework of his images. I enjoy flipping through his book discovering new emotions according to my mood.”

“Throughout Odair’s work, we are invited to focus and unfocus on the two most basic archetypes that constitute psychic reality: chaos and order. Evoking the systolic-diastolic universal movement of Goethe, or the Apollinian-Dionysiac dimensions of human drama as Nietzsche, his aesthetic poetry penetrates deeply in the sensitive psyche.”

About The Author

Odair Faléco

Odair Faléco is a street photographer from São Paulo, based in Prague. His work explores the poetic tension between the ordinary and the unseen, using reflections, shadows, silence, and small gestures to turn public life into intimate visual fragments.

Over more than fifteen years, he has photographed across twenty countries, building an archive shaped by cities, absence, movement, and the fragile balance between chaos and order. São Paulo remains one of his central territories, a city he photographed closely during fourteen years of living there.

Alongside photography, Odair moves through writing, street art, music, UX design, and visual art. He contributed to the book “Windows of São Paulo” with Nara Rosetto, and continues to create independent projects that connect personal memory, urban space, and the quiet drama of everyday life.
