For one month in 2023, Brazilian photographer Odair Faleco wandered through Istanbul with his camera, looking beyond the famous landmarks and postcard views. What caught his attention were the ordinary moments: fishermen waiting, people working, strangers resting, children playing, and the small, unexpected scenes that unfold when nobody is posing.
Coming from São Paulo, Faleco found something familiar in Istanbul's restless streets, irregular architecture, and everyday disorder. But he also discovered something different: the freedom to wander, slow down, and observe a city without rushing through it.
Ordinary Crossings is a 48-page, full-color street photography book capturing everyday life across Istanbul, Turkey. Through candid photographs, spontaneous encounters, and quiet observations, it offers a personal perspective on a city suspended between continents, cultures, and countless individual stories.
More than a travel photography collection, this independent photobook is an invitation to notice what we often overlook.
For lovers of street photography, documentary photography, and visual storytelling, Ordinary Crossings offers a different way of seeing Istanbul: one ordinary moment at a time.
This book was imagined, created, edited and published by me as an independent artist. When you buy it for yourself or as a gift, you help me keep the music playing.
